Covered engine inspection

About The Project Overview

A commuting sedan enrolled in a Street Service Standard Plan developed a sudden loss of drive and metallic noise from the transmission tunnel. The owner had kept oil-change records and contacted the claims desk before authorizing teardown. The shop submitted scan data, fluid photos, and a preliminary diagnosis of internal transmission failure.

Because internally lubricated transmission parts were listed on the coverage schedule, Street Service opened a claim, confirmed the deductible, and requested a teardown inspection with photo documentation of the failed clutch pack and valve body wear.

The Project Challenge

The vehicle was the household’s only daily driver. The shop needed a same-week decision on whether a remanufactured unit was eligible versus a component-level rebuild. Labor time also needed alignment with published guidelines so the owner would not face an unexpected supplement.

Workshop diagnosis Diagnostic confirmation

Street Service compared the failed parts list to the contract, excluded only wear items not named in the schedule, and approved a remanufactured transmission assembly with installer labor, fluids, and a post-repair road test.

The Result Of Our Project

Authorization was issued after the teardown photos arrived. The owner paid the plan deductible. The shop completed the install, and the vehicle returned to commuting duty with remaining contract term intact.

  • Listed transmission components approved without a coverage dispute
  • Labor reviewed against published time guides before the job card closed
  • Owner received written claim notes to keep with the policy file
  • Remaining months and mileage on the plan continued after the repair
